Indigenous Communities
Parentline is working with a number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (Indigenous) communities throughout Far North, North and North West Queensland.
In some of the more remote Indigenous communities counselling support is not readily available when parents and carers need it. A service such as Parentline, which operates seven days a week from 8am to 10pm, will help meet the needs of these parents and carers. Our staff are gaining the support of local Indigenous councils to work in partnership to deliver Parentline services.
Parents and carers can also undertake Parenting Programs such as the Indigenous Triple P Program in the comfort of their own home and at their own pace, with the assistance of an experienced, accredited Parentline counsellor.
The Indigenous Triple P Program is a Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) focused on parents and carers of Indigenous children. It has been developed in consultation with the Indigenous community to ensure cultural integrity.
